ISLAMABAD, April 7: Pakistan on Friday indicated it was open to the question of a South Asian moratorium on nuclear weapons production and reiterated its proposal of strategic restraint regime in the region.
"Pakistan has already made a proposal of strategic restraint regime in South Asia. These things can be discussed in the context of our proposal," Foreign Office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said when asked about the government's position on United States Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice's call for a South Asian moratorium on nuclear weapons production.
"And that is why we have also emphasised a package approach for the region," Ms Aslam added in an obvious reference to the controversial Indo-US civilian nuclear deal.
